Jason Cooper

Born and raised in Mt. Olive, Mississippi, Jason began singing at the age of four in the church choir. As the eldest son, he was a role model for his two younger brothers and two sisters. While maintaining his grades, Jason excelled in athletics and earned a full scholarship to Alcorn State University. It was while studying music at Alcorn that Jason embraced his passion for music and made the choice to pursue a career in the industry. Jason’s strong gospel foundation has given him an understanding of life and the endurance needed to be strong and courageous in the pursuit of a music career. The gospel sound is evident in his unique style. He sings with emotion and touches all who listen. Jason was a member of DJE (Deon, Jason, Eric) and RAIN, a four-man singing group formed through mutual acquaintances. He performed with both groups nationwide, including performances with artists Ice-T, Easy-E, Coolio, and South Central Cartel. The R&B/Hip-Hop/Pop style of both DJE and RAIN drew a major following. As a member of DJE, the group performed in Osaka, Japan for a rigorous extended one-year tour (2000-2001), performing five days a week, six performances every day. At the request of their fans, the group returned for a six-week engagement beginning in December 2001. DJE also was the winner of Apollo Theatre Talent Search award. Jason is now a solo artist, signed with MoonCook Productions. He has been in the studio writing and recording material for a blues project produced by Lenny “Fuzzy” Rankins, himself a multiple award winner in both the blues and jazz genres, including a Grammy award received for his work with Ike Turner. Jason’s song Trippin’ On Me will be released as a single and is scheduled for airplay soon. Dates for live performances are being negotiated now. There are no limits to Jason’s vision, passion, aspirations and desire to succeed. His positive and unique style together with his well-rounded music background ensure an amazing debut into the blues genre and continued support from his already established worldwide fan base.
